Filter People by their deals (label, pipeline, stage, status, owner)

Updated 2026-08-10

In two lines: in CRM > People, the advanced filter has a From their deals group. With it you segment contacts by what's going on in their opportunities — no exporting to a spreadsheet.

What you can ask for

Until now, the People list only knew about the person: their label, their owner, their company. The From their deals group adds the other side of the relationship — six fields that read the person's deals:

  • Deal label — the labels used across their deals.
  • Deal pipeline — which funnels they appear in.
  • Deal stage — which stages their deals are sitting in.
  • Deal statusOpen, Won or Lost.
  • Deal owner — which salesperson is responsible for their deals.
  • Deal count — how many deals they have, to separate a one-off contact from a recurring client.

Build the filter

  • Go to CRM > People.
  • Open Filters and choose Add new filter.
  • Use Add condition and, in the field picker, scroll to the From their deals group.
  • Pick the field, the operator and the values. You can stack conditions and mix them with the person's own fields (country, label, owner, custom fields).
  • Save it as Private (only you) or Shared (the whole CRM team) to reuse it.

How the conditions are read (this matters)

A person can have several deals, so each of these fields looks at the union of all their non-archived deals. Reading them the right way saves you a lot of head-scratching:

  • has any of [A, B] — at least one of their deals carries A, or carries B.
  • has all of [A, B] — A and B both show up among their deals, not necessarily in the same one: one deal may carry A and a different deal carry B.
  • is empty — either they have no deals at all, or none of their deals has that field filled in. It's the fastest way to find contacts nobody turned into an opportunity yet.
has all of does not mean "one single deal with A and B". If what you need is a deal carrying both at once, filter in the Deals view instead — that one works deal by deal.
On very large bases the filter analyzes the most recent deals only, and warns you on screen when it hits that ceiling ("Only the 10,000 most recent deals were analyzed."). If you see that notice, narrow the search — by pipeline, by owner or by date — before treating the result as a complete list.

Turn the result into work

A filter is only useful if something happens next. With the list on screen, use Save as dynamic list to turn those conditions into a reusable list that keeps itself up to date, and enroll it in a sequence — see Automate follow-up: Sequences and booking pages. If the sequence is going to move those deals, turn on deal linking first.

Three combos worth saving: deal status = Lost + deal label = price (your win-back list), deal count is empty (contacts nobody has worked yet), and deal stage = proposal + deal owner = a given salesperson (what one person has pending, ready for a one-on-one).

Next step: label those deals in bulk from the spreadsheet so the filter has something to grab onto — see Manage a deal: history, activities and agenda.
