How MIA uses your AI credits

Updated 2026-10-22

In two lines: MIA uses your account's AI credits, in the Chat category, and each request is charged for what MIA really used. Under every answer you see how much it was: a quick question uses little.

How is a request charged?

When MIA finishes your request, the AI work it really did is charged: understanding what you asked, checking your account, reading a guide if it needed one, preparing the cards and writing the answer —including what it reasons before answering—. That's why each request costs differently: a quick question uses little; one that goes through several modules or prepares many changes uses more. If you stop it halfway, only what it used up to then is charged.

Before starting, MB Suite checks that you have enough credits left for a request; if you don't, MIA tells you so without starting.

What if the model doesn't respond?

If the model handling your request is overloaded or doesn't respond in time, MIA passes the request to another model and keeps going; what's charged is what the one that answered used. A round in which the model didn't answer anything at all isn't charged: in See step by step it shows up as “No answer: not charged”. If none responds, MIA tells you there's high demand and you can try again. If you're the one who stops it with Stop, what it used up to that point is charged.

Why does a simple question use little?

Because MIA doesn't read everything in every message: it starts from a short index of your modules and opens only what your request needs —an area's guide, the data it's missing—. For a simple question it reads little, so it uses few credits.

Where do I see how much each request used?

  • Under each answer — “≈ 12 credits”, next to See step by step and the rating.
  • In See step by step — what MIA checked and did in that request, with the tokens and the credits.
  • In AI Agents > Usage — the cycle's total, together with the rest of the agents' usage (see See your AI usage and control your credits).
To use fewer credits, be specific: “move Acme's 3 deals to Won” uses less than “review my CRM and tell me what to do”, because MIA has to go through less to answer you.

Does a plan cost more?

Building the plan uses credits like any request. Once you approve it, its steps run in order without going through MIA's AI again. If a step uses an AI feature of MB Suite by itself —for example, generating a text—, that feature uses credits as it would from the screen.

And a background job?

It uses credits like a conversation with MIA, in the Chat category, and what it really uses is charged, segment by segment. Before it starts, its card shows the estimate in ranges and lets you choose a Credit cap: as it nears that cap, MIA stops and asks you whether to keep going. It stops before the round of work that would go over the cap, but the first round of each segment always runs, so at most the total goes over by one round. If you cancel it, only what it used up to then is charged. See Background jobs: hand MIA the long work and get on with yours.

And a routine?

Each run uses credits from the Chat category, in the name of whoever set up the routine, and what it really used is charged; one that comes out Nothing new doesn't call the AI, and one that covers All accounts uses the AI only in the accounts that have something to report. Before you put it to work, its card shows how much it spends per run and per month, in ranges, and its cap per run. Routines also have a monthly cap: a share of your plan's credits that, once used up, pauses them until the next month, without stopping the chat. See Routines: put an agent to work on its own, on a schedule or when something happens.

Does setting up a new account with MIA use my credits?

In a new workspace, no: MB Suite pays for the setup conversation up to a credit cap, for 14 days from when it's offered. The panel shows you the cap, and under each answer you see “Paid by MB Suite (setup)” (or how much MB Suite paid, if it covered only part of it). While there's room left, MIA keeps answering even if your balance is at zero. Once the cap is reached, or when the setup finishes, MIA uses your credits again. Anywhere else —a workspace that's no longer new, or a client's Account— the setup uses credits like any request. See Set up your account with MIA: ready to work in a few minutes.

What happens if I run out of credits?

  • If the account runs out, MIA shows “This account is out of AI credits.” The owner and the admins see Buy credits, which takes them to AI Agents > Usage; the rest of the team sees “Ask an admin to buy more.”
  • If you reach your personal limit for the month: “You've reached your personal credit limit for this month. An admin can raise it.” The owner and the admins can do it from See limits.
  • If the subscription isn't active, MIA can't work until it's settled; the owner and the admins see Go to Subscription.

How many credits does my plan include?

What your plan includes, and what it costs, is in Settings > Subscription: see Manage your subscription: change, activate, or cancel your plan. Your credit balance and when it renews are in AI Agents > Usage. In an agency, MIA draws from the same balance as chatting with the other agents: who pays for each Account is explained in See your AI usage and control your credits.

AI credits, their use and their purchase are governed by our Terms and Conditions.

Still have questions?

Ask MIA, the MB Suite AI assistant: open it with the MB AI button (⌘J) in the top bar. MIA knows the section you're in, so you can ask it about what you see on screen — and it can also answer how-to questions about using MB Suite.
