Segment your contacts into audiences

Updated 2026-07-13

In two lines: an audience is the group of contacts that receives a campaign. In Email Marketing > Audiences you create it once and reuse it across all your sends.

How do I create an audience?

Go to Email Marketing > Audiences and create a new one. You give it a name and choose how it's built: a manual list of contacts, By labels (dynamic, updates on its own), pasting a list with CSV / Emails, or By account (the contacts of a client account, useful for agencies). Once created, it appears in the campaign wizard when you choose the recipients.

What is a dynamic audience?

Instead of building a fixed list, you can choose the By labels type (a Dynamic audience): it includes every contact that has certain labels. The advantage is that it updates on its own: when you label a new contact, it enters the audience without you editing it.

Segmenting pays off more than sending to everyone: a focused, relevant audience improves opens and reduces unsubscribes. Think in groups by interest, stage, or client type.

Why does my audience receive fewer emails than I expected?

Contacts who are in Suppressions don't receive sends, even if they belong to the audience. That's normal: it protects your sending reputation. See Measure your sends and keep your list healthy.
